Dr. David Plitt, MD, RPVI
Dr. David Calvin Plitt earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Grove City College in Grove City, Pennsylvania. He received his medical degree from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania. He continued his medical training with an internal medicine residency at the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville, Virginia. He completed his fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship at the University of North Carolina Health Care System in Chapel Hill, NC.
Dr. Plitt is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases, interventional cardiology and echocardiograpy. He joined the Heart and Vascular Institute in August 2015.
Active in various professional organizations, Dr. Plitt is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Cardiology, and the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions. He has been recognized throughout his career with many honors and awards, including an Excellence in Medicine Award from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. Dr. Plitt is also implementing a same-day discharge program for select patients receiving PCI at the Emory University cardiac catheterization laboratory.
Dr. David Plitt is the author of numerous peer-reviewed journal articles. In addition, he has spoken at numerous presentations at the University of North Carolina, Department of Cardiology.
